Fanboys and the like

Fanboys, the guys who used to have orgasmic dreams over Princess Leia, have now found their way to Apple after the release of the original iPhone in 2007.

I haven't quite understood the grotesque fascination with apple and its products and how ape shit people can get over them, and the second something comes out that could some how threaten the overall "balance" they so claim to love they flame all those who aren't all about Apple and the products it releases.

Now before you begin to slander me for my thoughts keep in mind that I have owned apple products before, android devices, and many other mobile/portable technologies.

So what is it really, why do these people cling to the idea that these products and the end all be all of mobile tech? My guess is that a very good majority of them just don't know any better and follow whats trendy.

If you really look at apple products you're getting a good device yes, but at what price point is that product costing you.

For example, a person can have the 27in iMac, The "New" iPad, iPhone 4s, Macbook Air and every accessory known to man for each one of them. When you break it down the overall user had to have spent over $2500, all that money for an ecosystem and the ability to have 2 years of support for the software and then your device is obsolete. What kind of nonsense is that, to spend all that money to just lose the support in 2 years and then after that go out and wait in line overnight or for 6 hours plus just to get the next best apple product to replace your aging laptop that still works, makes a lot of sense to me.

Now here is where boundaries are made, you have the fanboys that are almost a cult and then you have people like me who are tech enthusiasts who get excited for all things technology, even if its not the best thing or option at first.

Tech enthusiasts are simple in nature, we like all technology and like to learn about it and see how it works. We tend to have preferences with what we use because we find a certain comfort level with particular products, however we generally do not fanboy over one particular product.

A perfect example of this is a friend of mine, he uses Intel and Nvidia as his base hardware because he favors them and is comfortable with their products. With that said he acknowledges AMD is around and that they have a decent product line, but it isnt his forte'.

To continue, we tend to keep an open mind about new technologies that are due out and generally stay in the middle of the fray when people take sides against one product over the other, we tend to see pros and cons in all tech.

This is a trait lacking in a fanboy environment, and this is commonly seen in gaming, a topic of sorts that is in a league of its own.

So with this article you have information on both the fanboys and enthusiasts of technology.

Me personally I am a tech enthusiast, which one are you?
