The theme was left up to Jon Paul and as a huge fan of Japanese history, he made a Japanese character.
This guy is a Daimyo, which would be a local warlord with his own army of samurai and ashigaru ready to fight for him.
The back is black as it would be in shadow from the harsh lighting to his front as a nod to film noir.
JonPaul used white primer spray and acrylic paint, painted on by hand with brushes. The result is really impressive, with a lots of details! And as a fan of Japan myself, I'm definitely in love ;)
